I really like the composition and the pose. If the image is cropped I would suggest reducing slightly. Was the bird originally underexposed? I ask because the black plumage appears to be a little noisy.
I like the beach vegetation, nice pose on the bird.
The miscellaneous seaweed adds to the image. Nice walking pose.
Thanks Jonathan. Forgot to mention this is full frame, and yes the original was a bit under exposed. I'll address the noise.

Geoffrey, you've captured a nice pose with the slight head turn towards you and nice separation of bird from background. I like the seaweed too which adds a bit of interest. The detail looks great and colour fine but the blacks do look a bit thin - maybe that's how your oystercatchers look though as I'm not familiar with them. Nice work and thanks for sharing.
