    Default Black-Necked Stilt

I went out to play with my new 600 this morning; it's a nice lens to be sure. Today I used a tripod, but Friday I tried to do hand held flight with it for about 3 hours. I'm still sore! Here's a Black-Necked Stilt from earlier today.

Canon 1D Mark III, f/9, 1/6400, ISO 800, -1/3 EV, no flash, tripod

Beautiful image. I love the browns and pinks here. What a lovely combination.
How did the shots go hand held? Are they as sharp? This one is very sharp. Well done.

Beautiful capture of the stilt in flight Doug. Excellent exposure with stunning detail and eye contact. It is so nice to be a ble to see the brown on the female stilt so well. By the looks of this image with the open beak she muct have been calling which makes me wonderf if there were baby stilts near by. Great image !!!

Sweet and sharp. Ah, for a bit more of a bank... You might try lightening the iris a bit.

I got some sharp ones, but the percentage of keepers went down.

Excellent details and exposure. Another vote for little more bank.

Great exposure control, details and the open bill adds to it. Did you do some S/H work? If so, it might be better to select the bird only using the magnetic wand tool.

I always select just the bird when I do adjustments like S/H. What exactly are you seeing here Axel? I'll take a look and see if I can pinpoint what's going on.

Love this shot - very well done. What tripod setup are you using with 600mm? I can just imagine how sore you must be after a three hour outing with the 600 hand held. It would be way beyond by ability. Looking forward to more of your 600mm pictures.

    Have a blessed day - dave b.

Three hours with a 600? Amazing.

I liked this shot. Sharp with lot of details.

I have a Gitzo 1325 with a Wimberley II. But I'm expecting a new Gitzo tripod this week (the 3541XLS) which is designed for tall people like me.

Fine image, Doug! Clean and sharp. . You must have some wetlands in your area. I'm looking forward to coming there next week. Congrats on the acquisition of a 600.
