Back to the cute factor for me again. Taken at a local wildlife reserve just west of Canberra in early morning light. The cygnet wasn't straying far from its parents. Full frame vertically; a bit off the right for composition.

Thanks for taking a look and for any comments you are kind enough to share.

Technical: Canon 80D with EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM at 400mm handheld. Manual exposure 1/200 sec, f7.1, ISO 800. Processed in Canon DPP 4 (digital lens optimiser @ 50, sharpness = 3, crop, lighting adjustments, NR) then exported 16 bit TIFF to Photoshop Elements with Neat Image NR plugin. Modest NR applied to bird and stronger to background. Some USM to head of cygnet as focus was a bit soft there. Cygnet and in-focus adult sharpened in PSE (Sharpness tool, remove Gaussian Blur: 0.4 pixels at 50%) after final size reduction.

Detail looks good on the swans. I can't decide if the swan in the foreground is distracting or adds to the image.

The 2 birds in the background look great. Like them and the dark water. I think the out of focus bird in the foreground is a deal breaker.

Thanks John and Isaac. I had a feeling to OOF bird might divide opinions - or worse. I kinda like it though but accept that I might be a bit 'strange' in that regard. Thanks for looking.

I am a little undecided about the OOF one on the left but I like the image. I like the image presentation it looks very clean, I suspect the cygnet plumage could have been problematical with it being wet but you did a good job.

Nice poses from the in-focus swan and cygnet. And from the oof one as well. Would have been a lovely shot without the latter, but it does make for an interesting and somewhat different comp as posted.
