I usually try to find a section of beach that is relatively clear of shells and debris, although that is difficult at Sandy Hook. Something about the way the tidal currents sweep around the Hook? But in this case I thought the shells added a bit of interesting color.

Definitely one of my favourites from you Bill, it has a little (actually a lot!) of everything. Perfect angle on the bird great low perspective, good foot up pose and some nice but unobtrusive environmental interest. Excellent details throughout as well.

Like this image a lot, Bill. Raised foot and bits of flying sand add nicely to the action. Could be splitting hairs, but the blacks in the beak, legs and shoulder, and around the eye have detail that might come out a bit. That said it's fine as posted also.

I am fine with nearly all of the shells but the large one in the left center foreground is an image killer for me ...

Really nice work, Bill. I think the shells add to this too and combined with the raised foot makes it feel like the bird is navigating its way through the maze of shells. All adds interest to the shot. Tone and colour look excellent with great contrast while maintaining excellent detail and great 'pop'. I'd be inclined to revisit the composition. For me, it could work better with a little off the top and the bird a little more left if you had the frame.
