    Default Loon Flapping

    One of a pair of loons nesting on a lake on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula: So close I used the 70-200 with a tc1.4. Exp comp -2/3 stop, I liked the pattern on the back and didn't think facing away from the camera would pose a problem.
    I cropped from the bottom as there was a lot of white reflection in the water.

    Very nice, good action. I wish it had it's head a bit more to the left.

    Very nice back detail Susan! I like it as is, But, I am sure that the "head turn police" will be after you. Just imagine what a fantastic shot this would be if - he was looking back at you!!

    Yes, nice detail on the back but another arrest for the HAP. In addition, the near-wing position is perfect but the far wing does not match it...

    Showing off the pattern on the back is nice, but the bird doesn't seem straight in the image, or maybe it's just the wings not being balanced. A little head turn so we could see the profile of the head would have been nice. You have to train your subjects better. :o)

    I like the stretched wings and pose. Adding to the other comments, it needs a bit CW rotation and I would apply some NR on the BG.

    Thou speakest in acronyms, Maestro. Please explain HAP. Re: head turn: why would a duck flapping wings turn his head into a bunch of feathers when he can avoid being flapped in the face?

    :)

    HAP = Head Angle Police.
