Here is one of the larger buck's I've photographed, check out the size of this fella's neck. Rut is not yet in full swing, but this guy has been starting to eye a few potential mates...
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/500s., f/5.6, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, FF, tamed a bluish cast on the whites.
Hi Daniel - Thanks for joining in on the theme this month! That is some huge neck and he looks very solid. His antlers almost look too small for him. I like the slightly angled pose and the stare. Sharpness, detail and tones all look good with a creamy bokeh.
Wonderful work Daniel and nice to see you here from Avian. Like your bird photography, it's very hard to find fault with the look of this: great detail, tone and colour which shows off the animal nicely against the excellent background. The composition works well for me too. Thanks for sharing.
Good to see you over on this side of the forum Dan!
Nice stare from this fella, you're not kidding about the size of his neck! Lovely creamy BG suits the shot well. If possible I would have preferred a slightly lower POV but I know its not always possible on hillsides, where at least in the UK, they often hang out.
Excellent signature details as always, hope to see more
Hi Daniel -- It is always a pleasure to view your images. Such high quality stuff . Wish you posted more frequently on the wildlife forum. Loved the BKG and the subject looks one very healthy specimen , indeed a massive neck. Nice colours and details , superbly done. TFS !
Hi Daniel this seems to be a nice big boy with a stunning rack .
Good solid portrait , well balanced and the tonal and color range is about perfect for me.
I am surprised to see that much DOF at 5,6 with that combo .
