Owlet

With Stu posting his PS owl it reminded me to look back at the owlets folder again from this year, thanks Stu. Taken quite late, around 9.15am, the perch is an actual piece of York Minster stone hidden away in the vegetation I found, but was told about it's provenance.

Interesting, love the stone, we don't all get perches with provenance Steve Steve is camo netting the bkg?? the central curve above and behind the kidlet's head, and evenness of pattern are leading me to ask this . Maybe a beech hedge if not after that i'm struggling !! Lovely image buddy, no shadows so I presume cloudy. ha ha Stu made me look at one day when we got to see som small owls too

Processing detail wonderful as ever, no nits. the bkg is messing with me because I can't place it re colour I think,I really am unsure but some thing has grabbing me

Hi Stu, the BKG is just a clump of dead weeds, I can't remember what it's called, but if I do I will add it. As it died back it provided the reds and browns, thought it was a contrasting colour to separate the owlet.

Nice one Steve and good to see some more of your LOs. I like the perch especially the moss and an interesting BG as well with splashes of pink. Techs and DOF are great. I like that we get a good view of the claws. No nits from me to be honest. TFS,

Wonderful work again Steve. The perch is really interesting and looks like a petrified tree stump. The colours and tones on the owlet are very light but I guess this is natural and accurate as the tones on the face and eyes look really great. The background is a little busy for my liking but the bird more than makes up for it. Nothing you can do about it anyway.

Hi Steve, beautiful Little Owl, wonderful perch. I looked up York Minster stone, quite the history and provenance. The lichens on the stone add much to the image. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Steve, great eye contact here, and love the soft light, even though you say it was 9:15am - you dont have 'harsh' light in the UK. I like the shape of the perch, and that is covered in moss, and the BG behind the little guy is a killer.

Sometimes we don't have any 'real' light Stu, ah this morning was outstanding and it was -7 last night, but nothing was out sadly.

Beautiful owl and wonderful lichen-covered stone make for a lovely image. For me the BG is a bit distracting from such gorgeous subjects, but I'm not sure what you would do about it short of making it a tad darker and/or a slight blur.
