I like the direct stare this buck gave me with both ears out. Image adjustments in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Lovely stare John I concur although the bkg is a bit busy. John I'm not familiar with your deer but does this need a slight notch to the red side looks to be a lot of reflected green about which appears to be effecting the colour of your fine buck.???

    Dear John,

Thank you for another lovely capture of a Whitetail Buck, I like the image design here and especially pose and eye contact.

Like Stu, I too feel the busy BG clashes a bit with those lovely antlers. Regarding ISO value, you have forgotten to mention it?

Curious about the green tinge on the whites of the neck, could it be a reflection from surrounding vegetation or perhaps the subject was quenching his thirst in algae infested water? Overall colours and tones on the subject look good to me and there's nice detail where needed most. F8 a good choice IMO.

I did an experiment, reduced greens and yellows as well as blacks in the BG, do you think it helps this lovely fellow stand out a bit more?
Thank you so much for sharing, I certainly enjoyed viewing. Wish I had such lovely deer around here too, I would be out and about every week-end to try and photograph them

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi John, great eye contact here, and love the alert ears. Good DOF on the antlers.

Thanks Gabriela, ISO was 1600. I was lying on my stomach in some tall grass when i shot this. I believe that was were the green is coming in. The grass was right in front of the lens.

Hi John - I agree with you about the stare. The bg is busy but is what it was. I doubt there was much you could do about it. For me, it is not the greens but the yellows in the whites that look strong on the neck. If it were mine I would use a selective color layer and mask to drop the yellows in the whites.

A pretty nice frame. I concur with comments made about the busy background but agree not much can be done there. The work on the colour including the background is what's need to improve this IMHO.
