    This was supposed to be a short eared owl, marsh harrier or hen harrier, not one was to be seen but I managed a series of this little egret within 2 min of setting up.

    Agree, very odd looking owl or harrier, Jon. A beautiful shot all the same. The legs: their position, sharpness and separation from the background really add to this for me. Your handling of detail on the bird is really wonderful too. And the background is superb with those soft wisps of grass. One I'd be very happy to have in my collection.

    I really like the pose against the grasses here and the wing position. Light was not your friend on this one as the side lighting has left too much of the bird in the shade. I think the whites look a touch blue as well. Also there is a darker out of focus grass that starts just below the tip of the beak. I would clone it out as I find that it distracts from the bird.
