Default Black Skimmer, winter adult on the edge of the surf

This image was created at Fort DeSOto Park on the early morning of Sunday, October 15 with the hand held Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM lens(at 371mm) and my favorite bird photography camera, the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV. ISO 800. Evaluative metering +2 stops: 1/320 sec. at f/6.3 in Tv mode. AWB.

Center AF point/AI Servo/Expand/Shutter Button AF was active at the moment of exposure. As originally framed, the selected AF point fell on the bird's face just behind and below the eye.

    FocusTune/LensAlign Micro Adjustment: -4 (extrapolated).

As for the image, don't be shy. All comments are appreciated.

Nice one Artie -- I like the composition, details look nice, and I like the breaking wave on the bird and then the texture of waves in the BG. I also like that the image goes from darker to lighter as we move up the frame. TFS

This was my favorite of the four in your Blog post. As always, you've achieved a highly successful exposure from a challenging background.

Thanks a stack Jerry. If you ever have trouble with getting the right exposure every time in five seconds with digital see the section on Exposure Simplified in The Art of Bird Photography II (916 pages, 900+ images) on CD or via download.
