    Default Shelter !

Hello everyone and thank you for all your comments and suggestions on my previous post .

Here is another BW Image, this time tried the conversion on an image from a very memorable sighting of a Mother and her calf at Amboseli. It was cloudy but hot and humid and you can see the elephants were spending their time in the swamps nearby before briefly coming out to graze . The calf was under the supervision of the mother, who was quite aware of our presence but as time passed, the calf was given some liberty to roam a few meters away.

DPP 4.5, CS6, BW conversion, highlights, reduced the contrast, clarity, levels , shadow/highlights, cropped from all four sides ( abt 30 %v in total ), Sharpening.

Canon 1D MK IV, canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS II,Bean Bag.

    1/800, f/9, iso 800.

All your Comments and suggestions are most welcome.

Hi Haseeb - A nice scene and I like the obviously wet calf and lower half of mom. You've brought out some nice textures. Appropriate title. If it were mine I would try to bring out more detail in the clouds. Also there's a halo around the adult.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Wow, excellent work Haseeb. That mis-formed tusk is really interesting too. I've never seen that although my experience is very limited. I like the tone and cloud in the sky nicely rendered in this conversion as well as great detail and tone on the animals. The counterposing stances works superbly too. All nicely rounded off in your composition. No complaints from me on this one - thanks for sharing.

Lovely image Haseeb, beautiful tender scene and the composition is great. Nice textures on the ellies too. Love the little one!

Just curious, you say you reduced contrast and clarity as well? Or just contrast? I for one would not mind a more contrasty look on the upper part of the adult elephant's body:)

Nevertheless, I am happy with this as presented

Many thanks for sharing, hope you have a wonderful week-end,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Haseeb a very nice frame in my eyes .
I like the conversion and the whole image design , lovely tonality . The little guy staying under moms protection is very cool and a sweet tender moment well captured.
    Beautiful work , Haseeb

A very nice frame Haseeb, lovely interaction between the mother and calf. I agree that bringing out a little more detail in the sky may well help

Thank you everyone , will try and implement the suggestion as to bring more details in the cloud and also that halo Rachel is referring to .

@ Gabriela - I just reduce the contrast , especially on the little fellow.
