Whitetail buck having a snack with a pear. Deer love apples and pears i imagine it is like ice cream to them. There is another deer across the bottom of the frame. Image adjustments in Lightroom.

    Hi John,
Nice sharp portrait, although 1/100 sec is getting pretty slow; and a nice rack on the buck. The spray of juice really makes it for me.
If it were mine, I would be tempted to tighten the crop to exclude the other deer at the bottom of the frame and take a bit off the top to balance it out.

Hi John - Nice look to camera and I like the ear position too. The other deer is unfortunate. If it were mine I would also want more ss in the field and would back off on the contrast. Nice fall tones.

    Rachel

Hi John i do like the portrait and the squeezed pear and the flying fluid is a great addition adding interest , compared to a standard portrait. HA and the look to the camera is nice.
Agree with the others that the SS is quite slow, but at this size it does look ok. , But you have lost some fine detail on the way.

    Hello John,

Cannot help smiling when I see the puzzled look from this deer, really cute. Great timing indeed and I like the head angle here and eye contact. DoF works and I agree it is pretty sharp for such low SS. Lovely colours, subject as well as BG.

I agree with Gerald above, the other deer is unfortunate so maybe worth trying a tighter composition?

Well done capturing this, I really enjoyed viewing.

And I am off to look for a pear or an apple in the refrigerator

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
