Lifer for me, I was really looking forward to find and photograph a Crested Caracara since I've tried at the same location before with no luck. It happened this time and I was lucky enough to have an acceptable light and clean background. It was in Clewiston, Florida, with the Nikon D500 handheld and AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm 1-5.6E ED VR

    ISO 500
    f5.6
    1/2000
    500mm
    Manual Mode
    Processed on LR and PS.
    cropped around 40%

All C & C's will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for looking

Juan, nice shot. Details and colors look nice, there are some repeated patterns underneath the branch and some artifacts where some cloning was done.
You could remove all the greenery if you wanted, if not I would clean up that area.

Juan, I like your shot. I saw some of these in Brazil last year, but from my sightings had no idea they had that yellow crop. I guess my ones were hungry. Thanks for the shot and for my learning more about the species.

Nice pose, angle, light, and details. Ditto Tim's comments re: the patterns. Cool look at the crop as well. I like that we get a great look at the talons. TFS and congrats on a lifer!

Very nice Juan. Lovely detail on the bird with a good HA. Great colours throughout and cropped well.

Congratulations on you lifer... I love these birds they are so unique. The first time I photographed one with the crop showing I thought the bird was ill, abscess or cancer. I might open the darks a tad and remove the out of focus leaves, just a thought.

I have had good luck finding Crested Caracaras along Ten Mile Grade Road near Zolfo Springs, especially if there is road kill on the side of the road.

    Thank you for sharing, Juan.

    Caracara looks great.
A little bit of tidy-up work to the cloned areas is all this image needs.
love that clear eye and full crop. Good natural history image with that crop.

Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. Very much appreciated. I didn't notice the sluggish clean up work. Here's the repost.
