Beautiful Doe portrait and I find this pretty sharp for 1/250s. Curious what the lighting conditions were like?
Nice head angle and I like the expression with slightly open mouth and attentive stare. Composition works for me.
I personally feel it is a little too saturated, and in saying so I refer in particular to the BG - quite overwhelming IMO. Tips of the ears a tad too contrasty and no detail in the blacks. A little artefact (white vertical line, bottom of the frame, RHS), easy fix:)
Thank you so much for sharing, and sorry to nit-pick a little. I do like this image a lot, it is pretty sharp and lovely detail. I just think it needs a gentler approach, I would start afresh from the RAW.
Hope you have a lovely week-end and I look forward to more images from you
HI John - Lovely subject against that beautiful golden BKG. I feel it is a bit high on contrast and as a result those finer details are missing , also the ss on the lower side is not helping the cause , i feel you could have easily gone higher with the MK III in terms of the iso, may be 5000 or even 8000. Agree, the BKG looks a bit over saturated and those white blobs are a bit distracting IMO. Here is a RP as per my thoughts, I just took the liberty to do a Rp, I hope you don't mind. I cropped from the bottom so that the neck starts from the lower LHC, cloned out the blobs , reduced the yellows, and contrast as well and opened the shadows . WDYT ?
I like this frame a lot, John. I'm guessing the background is autumn leaves? So the colour may be fairly realistic? I actually quite like the brightness and intensity in the OP. Detail on this one looks excellent. I'm torn between Haseeb's repost your OP regarding the tone on the doe. On balance, I think I like the OP a little better although not a lot in it either way for me.
Hi John, I like the side profile portrait and the vibrant BKG. You have been lucky to get so close to your subjects, although is this a crop (large/small) or FF, be good to always add this into the intro.
Personally I find it too tight overall, you need more space in front of the subject for sure. If you get the shot in the bag then you should also have shot landscape to give yourself opportunities. I find the Blacks and Contrast rather dominating, I would back off, be good to see a screen grab of the LR Exposure module. I don't mind the vibrant orange & yellow, but reducing the Contrast in the BKG helps. I think Haseeb's RP is a good direction, just watch the whites of the subject don't retain a colour cast through ramping the BKG colours up. DoF looks about right, perhaps 7.1 as you were that close, but HH at 1/250 I would still want more SS to ensure a sharp Raw.
Hi Jon a lovely portrait of this Doe , i do like the overall color and the mid tone depth in the fur . Framing is looking good in my eyes .
I just think the contrast on both end of the histogram is a wee bit strong . I would not touch the overall saturation , but for sure a matter of taste .
