    Default Anna's Hummingbird

Grabbed this capture walking the trails above La Jolla Cove in San Diego, where I was otherwise focused on pelicans and sea lions. Canon EOS 5DMIV, EF 100-400 II, f5.6, 1/2000s, 400mm, ISO 400

Sweet looking frame Roger. Love the comp with the leaves 'framing' the bird well. Nice detail on the bird, but I am sure a faster SS would have made the bird look better. I would have wished for a slightly better HA. Lovely POV.

Many thanks Will, indeed I moved to 1/3200 after snapping this frame, but alas the bird was off to greener pastures. I did crop significantly on the image as well. Quick question, I'm wracking my brain but can't come up with the meaning for "HA"? Thanks!

Hi Roger, HA is Head angle, it is preferable if the subject is looking slightly towards the viewer.

Here is an Acronym List Roger. http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...6-Acronym-List.

    Hope this helps.

Sorry, a bit late on this one - it's a rather lovely shot, Roger. Background is excellent providing nice separation for the bird and framing by the foliage and flowers works. I think it would also work with the lower right foliage cloned out and maybe the three leaves at the lower left? A coin-flipping exercise which one is better though. Bird placement in the frame is nice and detail, colour and tone look great, especially that iridescence on the feathers. Thanks for sharing.
