This is the last image I will create with a Canon system. As we speak it is being listed on E-Bay. I am going to the dark side so you may not hear from me for a while. Undoubtably, all my head positions will be much better with the new Nikon system :D and all under wing shadows gone forever. I understand the new D300 has a bird call CD in it so distance will no longer be a factor either.

I love you all and I will be back.

Nice bird - I am sure you will love the DARK SIDE :)

This post also answered a question - these guys were new arrivals to my area yesterday. Gotta love those green eyes - now to just get close enough....

I am wondering what is out of the box in this image. I am sure you will be happy with the dark side. I looked at the D3, but didn't find a Mirror Lock up button. Files are very nice though.

Ah, an international coalition, how nice. I have found that in AWF one must have a near perfect "field guide" shot, ala Nat Geo/Audubon, to qualify. Here with my shot, while it is a pleasing image, at f/5.6 with a Canon 1-4 resolution is not what it could be, The breast is slightly over-exposed, head angle not perfect (eh Doug), and the forground limb is OOF. Artisticially it is ok, but for the AWF not quite up to par. This not to say "artistic" shots here are not most often perfect with more to offer than AWF (Robert O'Toole being a good example), but unfortunatly this one suffers a little.

I believe if you look close you will find a mirror lock-up on the D300. I believe I saw it in custom functions. Mr O'Toole or Mr Forns (amounst others) I'm sure could elaborate on it for you. No camera of that stature would be without. My concern was it didn't have a comp wheel but I found it did.

I like your motto. Have you seen a Bengal in the wild? How anyone would want to eliminate these magnificiant beasts, even though they do occasionally use us for afternoon snacks, is beyond me.
