Hi Jon, looks like the light was quite strong based on the whites, although it has helped in providing shape & form of the subject, but with the shadows I guess you lightened the eye?? If you have it, perhaps a sliver more below??? I don't know, but my impression is for some Saturation within the capture for a little more 'richness' overall. I like the position of the subject, as it highlights/shows off the horns, the muscle aspect and overall contours of the body. Personally I might lose the light 'blobs' on the RHS. Techs look good with just the right amount of DoF front to rear.
Perfect pose and nice framing, Jon. I feel the highlighted whites are a touch too bright but not by much. Overall I think you have effectively conveyed the strong lighting here while deftly retaining detail and tone on the animal including the shadowed areas. Colours look nice and natural and IQ is excellent. A lovely animal, well captured - thanks for sharing.
Hi Jon - It's nice when they stop on a ridge and the comp works very well here. You handled the strong light well but I agree about the strong whites. Colors look good. Those withdrawal symptoms are something many suffer from. Yellowstone, like Africa, is known to induce a fever.
