I was sitting in my beach chair at Ft. De Soto photographing this Reddish Egret when it walked out of the water approaching to about 25 to 30 feet and glared at me. I captured several frame of this head on stare. I like to hear comments on this head on position of the head and bird. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Beautiful. Love the shooting angle here..looks like the bird is my size. Face is very well lit and I love the feet. The tonality of the FG/BG is a nice touch too. Well done.

My those legs are long - and you've shown this off nicely Joe. Contrast between bird and background is excellent The tones, except maybe the head which appears a bit 'thin', look superb as does the colour. This looks like a shot taken in overcast conditions. What was the lighting at the time? I don't have a strong view one way or the other on head position.

Hi Glenn, the morning was mostly overcast, some breaks in the clouds when the sun would show. When this series was captured it was overcast without any shadows, which was wonderful. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

Something totally different of Big Red - good to see your imagination at work Joe, I like it. The tones reflect the overcast conditions (speaking as a Brit I feel highly qualified in overcast light!) and the little swirls in the sand are a nice touch.

The head angle works for me - he looks thoroughly fed up with the wind, and those legs are brilliant

This one made me smile! I have been on the receiving end of this look from Big Red but have never captured it as well as you have!
