Déjà Vue! Green Heron Hunter Silhouette Reflection.
Back in 2009 I photographed a Great Blue Heron hunting as a silhouetted reflection. I had actually just written about that opportunity recently in my blog:
Fast forward to a few weeks ago, and the tame Green Heron stood in the very same spot under the same lighting conditions, performing the same type of hunting! What I thought had been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity duplicated itself, and I was all too happy about it. This is the same morning it caught the huge fish that it struggled to swallow - a great morning indeed.
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1000s., f/5.6, ISO 1600, natural light (enhanced via warming up the WB and adding some saturation), handheld, small crop for comp, the water cleaned up by removing a few smudges. No eye work here!
Perfect and spectacular always works for me. You nailed the timing on this one. Please remember folks that "luck is what happens when preparedness meets opportunity ... " This quote, often attributed to the Roman philosopher Seneca, is especially applicable to nature photography.

Wow, love this one. I like silhouette shots, but adding the splash that stands out so nicely from the soft background creates an extra pop for the image.
My oh my, this one is simply spectacular Daniel - the colour, the reflection, the superb splash of water... breathtaking. As Artie say, no 'luck' here. You saw the opportunity and were able to nail it again.
