Hi Dan - Good to see you posting in Wildlife. It has been a while (a long while). Nice portrait of the bison and I like the bit of snow on the bison. Your embedded color profile is your calibrated Mac rather than sRGB. I'm not sure what your calibration settings are so not sure if that will result in a shift for certain browsers. When I take it into PS I am still seeing a slight blue/cyan cast to the shadows and bg. It may be on purpose to convey the colder feeling. You handled the mixed light well, just watch some of the blacks are heavy. I hope you'll post more often in Wildlife again.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Nice head on pose and a lovely environment. I too would like to see the blacks around the face lifted a little if possible. Given the same circumstances I'd say your camera could handle higher ISO for a bit more DoF.

That said, I do like the shot and the wonderful winters light

Hi Dan , very nice head on shot of the Bison .
Love the frosty feeling of the frame and the overall color and tone in the lighter parts , the blues are looking good and natural to me .I do agree about the blacks ....

    Hello Dan,

I like the "frosty feeling" here, as Andreas described it in his comments. Also the "don't mess with me" look from the Bison - well captured!

Nice framing and POV. I too think it would be great if you could open up the blacks a bit, Dan. Overall colours look good to me too, BG nice and soft, and I like the way the light touches the subject from the side.

You got away with relatively low SS. Not familiar with the D610 and its capabilities but I would have pushed that ISO a bit more

So glad to see you posting here again, let us have some more please:)

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
