    Default Complimentary BG.

I visited the Pilanesburg National Park a few Sunday's ago for a morning shoot. The sun had just risen, and for this perch, one has to position yourself so you have the distant mountain as a BG. From a slightly different angle, you will have half sky and half mountain. This is a red Eyed Dove, and the colours in this are as shot in camera. I was amazed after downloading how the Dove blends in with the distant mountain BG. This is the same morning as my Kingfisher image posted recently. It just shows what different BG's one can have at this location depending on where the subjects perch. Captured from a walkway to a hide constructed over a dam.

Pretty darn good, I just wish you had pointed your lens up a bit more to get the subject lower in the frame. All else is to my liking.

Great pose, great perch, great background... An excellent shot. The blending of the bird with the background is quite impressive and not something I'd normally look to achieve in a photo. The result is quite interesting. The detail, colours and tones on the bird are wonderful. Like Daniel, a lower placement in the frame would work better for me. A great shot all the same.

So simple yet effective, beautiful colours. I agree that lowering the bird i the frame would be beneficial but everything else is spot on.

Thanks a stack for all the feedback. Here is a version with the Dove lower in the frame.

Lovely shot Stu, very unusual colours, like the repost especially.

Beautiful. Amazing how the early morning light can turn both bird and mountain into rose color. Repost takes a lovely image and puts it over the top.
