    Default whimbrel

Taken in Iceland this summer, one evening as we wandered down a dirt road. Despite the cloudy low light, there were birds flying all around us. I did my best with processing at ISO 3200, so if there are any recommendations, I'd appreciate your input.

Nice flight image i could see this being cropped as a pano.

Ann I think this is a gorgeous shot, love the wing position and the long bill is in focus. The image looks very clean, I like the image as presented, if you are after ideas I would suggest if you applied NR to the bird try another version with less or no NR to the bird, you may get a tad more detail.

A lovely image, Ann. Good detail to my eye, for 3200 ISO. The background is beautiful Iceland, so I would not crop too much out, but it might be worth looking at a pano taking more off the top than the bottom, or not. You might consider trying some NIK Tonal Contrast at 25% to make the bird pop more, but as I look at it, it appears to have pretty much the tonality I remember for Whimbrels, so again, maybe not.

Nice work - especially for such a big focal length and poor light. I'd be very pleased with this. Colours and tones look good to me and I like the composition and background. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think I have every seen a fight shot of this angle with such a clean BG of this bird. I'd sharpen the head a tad more and despite I like the comp maybe I'd try a pano crop as well. Congrats for this super image.

Looks good as posted, but I like the idea of playing with the crop. Fantastic BG.

Hi Ann, excellent angled flight pose towards you, and looks nice and sharp too. Seems like Iceland is kind with soft light, and it sure looks good in this. Killer colours in your BG. If this were mine comp wise, I would take off the top and a bit off the RHS.

Beautifully captured flight image, Ann. The overcast Icelandic light works so well with the Whimbrels subtle browns and whites. Wonderful detail also.

Ann, What a well captured flight shot. I like the processing as is, but also think the pano crop would work well. The backgound is stunning.
