Hello everyone , thank you for all your C&C's on my previous post , much appreciated !

Here is an image of a Black Rhino which remains critically endangered and the future looks very bleak. This individual was a magnificent experience for me , I was just in so much awe of this amazing animal , all power , strength and beauty. Just a look towards us would convey so much regarding who is the boss in the area . I sincerely wish that these Rhino's bounce back from these atrocious times that they are facing and keep roaming the earth for generations to see .

Dpp 4.5, CS6, WB, cropped from top and rhs , slightly extended the space at the foot , curves, selective colour, exp +0.15, contrast -7 , sharpening . Do the Blacks look strong , especially in the shadows ? i am not sure on it .

Canon 5D MK III, Canon 500mm f4 IS II, Bean Bag.

    1/5000 sec; f/8; ISO 2000.

All your C&C's are most welcome .

Hi Haseeb - What a proud stance of this individual. Good choice on the aperture for dof. I think you could have dropped the ss and ISO a bit. The blacks of the shadows are slightly choked. I think you can also open up the midtones slightly for a less contrasty look. Forgot to say that I might add just a sliver back in above.

    TFS,
    Rachel

    Hello
it is a very nice shoot.
Rhino is in front and inside the grass...and background for me is ok.
This photo give me the opportunity to talk about a question...when the subject is no in full light is it possible take a good photo ? (normally the best also for the camera is all in light or all dark)
    Thanks

    Hello Haseeb,

Beautiful rhino, and the little yellow flowers a nice touch!

Love the pose here and the comp works for me, good POV and I like your choice in terms of DoF.

Blacks a bit strong Haseeb, you are right. Given the direction the light is coming from I gather that's how things were, nevertheless I think you could address this issue with some careful PP work.

A very special image indeed, most rhino have been dehorned around here and I would have to look through the archives for one with the horn intact. The slaughter continues despite some efforts to stop it and I am sad to say we lost a great number last month.

Thank you so much for sharing, I enjoyed viewing,

    Kind regards,

Nice attentive grazing pose here Haseeb and concur with Gabriela, Rachel and yourself that the shadows could do with a lift, good to see out in the open as well.

Long may this senseless slaughter stop.

Nice work Haseeb. Nice looking animal that looks like it has enjoyed a mud bath recently. Nice to have it with 'lunch' in its mouth and excellent scene and background for this shot. I agree the shadows are a bit strong and could be lifted. I also wonder if a little more on the top of the frame would work better here. Thanks for sharing.
