Too sweet for words Peter !!! The cat is even surprised !!!

I like the natural looking flash fill and would have wished for more coverage over the cat. Might also select the eyes and sharpen a bit Do like it as presented and is one fine image !!! Big Congrats !!!!

WOW! Getting that close to one of these is scarey enough, but stalking it for 2 years? sheesh. You're a braver person than I.

This image is wonderful. As Alf mentioned above I would also try sharpening the eyes a bit but aside from that it's magnificent. Excellent job here.

That is one surprised look. :) I'm glad you finally made the image you imagined, well worth the effort.

Well done here Peter and the cherry on the cake for getting this shot. Ditto on the eye sharpening.

Wow, fantastic photo Peter! This is exactly the kind of images I have been dreaming of making some day after I saw similar images by Nigel Dennis of lions. Big congrats! Maybe some image sharpening and darkeing of the head a tiny bit will make thi look even better!

Very nice picture. I would have liked a little negative exposure to the flash. That would have helped the eyes. Nice background colour. Congratulations.

Positives outweigh the negatives exponentially. Both have been covered.

    Simply sweet work!

Rather than darkening just the head a bit, there's a pretty solid line of flash exposure difference here, including some of the grass behind the cat. With enough pixels for feathering, lassoing the hot areas and dropping mid range levels to suit would take care of that issue.

Persistence pays off! Great shot--ditto on a little less fill flash, but you can still adjust that in PS.
