Default Tamest Red Grouse I've ever met

School holidays are over - I can dust of the camera, Yay!!

I went up to the moors today in search of the Grouse, and found this unusually tame male. Just as I was stalking him and thinking I was too close he'd walk towards me without a care in the world. Its unfortunately the shooting season for these guys now but I reckon I could have caught him with just some netting and a good throw!

Love the tones of this image. The bird and the background really work well together. This is a very pleasing image.

Really nice work here Mike. A beautiful bird in a beautiful setting but a worry that he might become table fare. Excellent clarity, tones and colour deftly brought out by your processing - including the detail on the underside of the bird. Very little I don't like about this shot.

Hi Mike, great eye level capture here, and you managed a great pose too. I like the colours of the Grouse, as well as the surrounding foliage. Sometimes when an inquisitive subject gets too close by moving towards you, you lose your DOF.
