Default Frigatebird taking flight just after sunrise, North Seymour Island, Galapagos, Ecuador

This image was created on the 2017 Galapagos Instructional Photo Tour on our second North Seymour landing with the hand held Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM lens (at 230mm) and my favorite pre-dawn silhouette photography camera body, the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV. ISO 500. Evaluative metering +2 stops as framed: 1/500 sec. at f/7.1 in Tv (Shutter Priority) mode. AWB. LensAlign/FocusTune micro-adjustment: -3. I selected an AF point that was five rows up and two the right of the center AF point/AI Servo/Expand/Shutter button AF as presented. The selected AF point was active at the moment of exposure and just caught the frigatebird’s tail.

As for the image, all comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated so please do not be shy.

Well this is different. And. I like it. Just enough motion blur on the bird, to bring the image alive. The branches, if not silhouetted, I reckon, would look too messy, but the black on white works for me. An 'arty' looking image.

Yes, very 'arty'. I do like this a lot. The blur on the wing adds. Unsure about composition initially but on reflection, I think the tangle below really adds to this. Nice to have the tail separated from the branch.

Something different for sure! I like the form contrast between the tangled branches and the bird and the wings forward lifts it.

A bit the same artsy style as you Osprey that you made into tiles. I like it. Interesting shape to the pose. I could see a tad more room above IMO, but fine as is as well.

Wonderful Arthur! I love the mess of branches beneath the bird. I agree with Daniel - maybe a little more room above the bird, but it's great the way it is. I also like that it's a nearly 50/50 distribution of pure black and pure white.
