    Welcome to BPN Philip.
I love wrens and have yet to get a great image of one.
It is nice you were able to show the perky tail.
The IQ on this image is not very good. Perhaps this is a big crop so I would loosen the crop to see if IQ would improve.
The bill is too close to the RHS of the frame so loosening the crop would help with that issue as well.
Also, it is always more pleasing to have a better HA- ie have the bird looking a bit more towards the camera.
This forum is a great place to learn- keep posting,
    Gail

It was not a tight crop. the Wren was about 20 ft away with a 600mm, this image was cropped then resized to enable it to be posted on here :) the original image was sharp :)

Hi Phillip. Gails comments with regards to head angle and cropping are spot on. But especially so with the image quality. If your original image was tack sharp then something is wrong with your workflow. Could you detail exactly what you did. As presented the image quality is not great so maybe there is something we can recommend to help with your conversion.

    Hi Philip,

Welcome to BPN from another Brit

Absolutely loads to learn on here, hopefully you'll agree and join up fully. Glad you've sorted out the resizing issue, nothing more frustrating than having a shot you're proud of then it looking different once posted.

Crit wise, there is some nice light on the bird, conditions looked good. As Gail says, having the bird turned a bit more towards us would have been great - we all fully understand thats not how nature works a lot of the time, but having the head close to parallel to the sensor, or a bit towards us makes a big difference.

I'd also loosen the crop a little with more space all round, but particularly on the right.

Keep posting shots up and give as much info as possible on your techs - shutter speed, ISO, aperture etc, and any workflow issues can assist with the crit process - and if you listen to the advice on here, you'll struggle not to improve quickly!

Don't be scared to comment on others shots, it doesn't have to be technical based, it really is a friendly community here, there is very little posted in the way of cross words and I find it helps me personally to talk about other peoples images and sometimes do the odd repost to show what I'm thinking.

    Lets see some more

    Mike
