    Default Barnacle goose

I would have liked to have had a clearer view of the feet but the undulation on the land made this impossible, I do have another shot where the feet are visible but the goose is not calling.

Great low angle Jon, I can live without the feet but would have preferred a little more space below for the virtual feet.

I like the calling pose and the BG, which although isn't the classic plain BG, it doesn't take away from the bird.

p.s. pretty sure this is a barnacle goose, not a brent

Hi Jon, can only echo Mike's thoughts and observations here and do agree, I think it is a Barnacle Goose. I might warm up the grass, looks a bit cool?

Nice shot. I'd like more space at the bottom and get rid of the two bright spots in the BG, one at the front and the other back-up from the bird.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, yes I realised it was a barnacle, I changed the caption to the image but was unable to alter the thread title. the mottled background is approximately 2,000 black tailed godwits.

A really lovely shot Jonathan, made that much better by the moment you've captured of the bird calling. I like the background a lot in this shot - a little different to the usual but in a good way. The handling of the tones on the bird and detail you have brought out is really excellent too. I agree a touch more on the bottom of the frame would help.

I would have to agree with all the comments above.

Can you do a head transplant from the one with feet to the one with the calling bird? Just a suggestion if your ethics would allow.

I could Glennie, but it would be a fake and I could not ever use it.
