    This fella took off when I arrived on one side of the lake - but - came to me on the other. Light was quite diffused this morning.
    D500+Sigma 500/4, 1/3200, F4, NR in CS6

    Great bird and nice walking pose with the drip of water coming off the toe.
    Image seems very contrasty and dark.
    I would suggest a slight crop from the bottom to get rid of brown belly reflection and I would clone out dark spot in water on lower right edge of the frame. It catches my eye.
    I think this deserves a redo in PP!

    Such spectacular birds. I love the raised foot. I can't add anything to Gail's comments.

    Great shot here, Jay. I like the repost. The bird really stands out in this shot. Colours, tones and IQ all look excellent to me. I understand the comment by Gail about contrast but I suspect it's partly because the rest of the frame is so subdued - although I don't know this species.
