Common Tern, Dorsal View
Here's another Common Tern in flight from Nickerson Beach, early this month. I thought about repairing his damaged tail, but decided to leave him as I found him.
D500, 500f4 + 1.4 TC, ISO 1250, 1/3200s @ f/9 manual. ( I had upped the aperture to f9 while taking some frame-filling shots of a preening Oystercatcher; I didn't think to scale it back when this guy flew over.)
Neat to get a top shot at Nickerson. Well done on all counts.

Nice banking pose with good detail. I like the waves in the BG which provide good contrast and the diagonal composition. I don't mind the tail feathers. TFS

Bill, another excellent shot with well handled lighting, processing and top IQ. I'm glad you didn't fix the tail. Nature is never perfect and I think showing that adds to the photo.
