Quick shoot in Palo Alto today. Clouds kept the sun away but it produced some nice effect on some shots. Here's one done light that I am partial to.

very nice shot Joel, exposure,d details and sharpness are all perfect. I do wish the head was a bit more parallel to the back of the camera, would also move him a bit off centered too

Joel, very interesting high key shot, for some reason it looks like it needs a slight bit rotation down on the right if you look at the rings in the water.
Besides that I like the moodiness of the image.

The thumbnail does not do this image justice.
I love your super low POV and exposure is excellent. I really like your comp.
Agree this needs a hint of CW rotation.

Love the high key look. Arash is right. The bird is much too centered; it needs a lot more room on our right and a lot less on our left. Choosing the right AF point would have solved the problem quickly.

Very nice looking image Jay. One of your best in my opinion. The bird looks so delicate with that wonderful pose.

This has a lovely feeling to it. Great POV, and I like the tension caused by the bill just touching the water. I'm ok with the head angle, although I suppose had the bird's body been a bit more aligned with the sensor plane it would have helped the DOF. I might move the bird just slightly to the left in the frame, but not much. And the reflections are almost perfectly vertical, so any CW rotation would need to be very slight indeed. All in all, I think it is a fine shot.

Here's a repost with slight modifications. A bit of rotation (enough?) and a little space added to the right (and deduced from the left)... enough? Thanks for all the kind comments. I like this one a lot too.
