Taken in Iceland this summer- dark, cloudy day.
PP Full vertical crop from landscape orientation. No more room top or bottom.I could easily add some canvas up top.Thoughts? Trimmed a couple of grasses that were touching the belly.

Hi Gail, I really like your eye level capture here, and with this perspective, it seems like the raised wing extends for ever. Killer whites, and that Icelandic light always plays ball. Im glad you left the grasses, and I like the lichen on the rock perch.

Lovely rendition of tone in the wings, Gail, while deftly retaining a hint of detail in the black cap. Perfect background and I like the grass and perch too. I always struggle with how to compose and frame shots like this so I don't feel qualified to suggest anything different, but noted that you had nothing left at top and bottom to work with either.

Love the grasses and the lichen on the rock killer wing stretch as well.

Can't get a better wing stretch than that. Lovely frame, especially with the addition of the grasses and rock. I would be tempted to add some canvas on top.

Great wing stretch Gail, can't see how that could be any better! I'd just maybe consider enhancing the catchlight a little, it might liven the eye up a touch

I think you had the bird stuffed and placed it on the rock, they never pose like that for me.(Big Grin) Beautiful wing stretch, lovely composition. I think I might explore adding canvas on the top as has been suggested, but nice as it is. Thank you for sharing, Gail.

    Hi Gail,

Excellent capture. What a tall wing stretch. Very nice handling of the blacks and whites. Like the terns low stance and your lower POV.

Lovely image Gail. A beautiful wing stretch and pose. The whites and background look are excellent. I really like the grasses next to the perch. I agree with Mike to liven up the eye.
