A youngster from a visit to Bradgate last year. These don't tend to hang around to much, and he made sure he kept a close eye on me as he scooted past.

Hi Mike - A very simple yet effective portrait. Good placement in frame. It does look a little dark to me though. Perhaps bring up the exposure slightly.

Cool animal here what is it? Like the darker background with the lighter subject.

Stands out well against the BKG Mike, but for me you wanted more DoF and a faster SS (as the young deer was on the move), f/5 was too shallow. If you go very early later on this year you should get some in the larger males in the bracken. Like the raised front leg.

Hi Mike a classy pose of the deer ..lovely timed with the raised foot and the side look to the viewer .The subject does stand out nicely due to its colorations and the BG .
Depending of the time of shooting it does not look too dark i think , maybe a bit overall cooler WB would fit better to the overcast conditions .
You have been there ..so you must know .However i think the colors are looking a bit saturated for me, but for sure a matter of taste .
DOF looks ok to me , but i do agree regarding the SS , for better quality and you had space to play with the ISO .

Lovey to see Mike the light looks right to me as with colours,I don't find the bracken too saturated, cool little pale pricket you have there. Hmm wary guys are they not, mind this one if it knows you are there is positively tame compared to our ruffians around here,so difficult to stalk and get close to Mike. Their senses amaze me,so astute.
Love the raised feet
