Another very good signature style shot here Daniel, a couple of nice touches that nicely improve things from my perspective, with the slightly open beak, and the little grass shoot adding that extra interest within the negative space. Possibly going an inch or so higher might have taken the OOF line away from the feet a little but we're getting into real nit picking territory here!

Mike took the words out of my mouth -- has those signature elements of low POV, a touch of green and nice eye work. Sweet shot.

It is a beautiful image. Very delicate. The green touch adds.

Love the light tones throughout this image very nice. Composition is nice as well.

Your work is wonderful, Daniel. There's nothing I can add to the comments already made except that I really think this is a beautiful piece of work. A quick question: do you get much loss of clarity adding the 1.4x TC to your 500 when used on your 7DII?

Another lovely frame from you Dan. Everything seems to 'fit'. The bird, the BG, and great POV all come together beautifully. I would love to achieve this. An inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

Funny, I had the same thought as everybody else the second I looked at the image. One of your clean classics with a little hint of color.
Way to get down low and dirty.

I like the pose and the eye contact. Agree that it has your look to it. I don't think the colors are correct on the bird. Juvenile semi sands are not this orange. They have a more reddish brown color. These birds are abundant in and around NYC and I see thousands every migration.

Thanks guys! Isaac, is it an adult then? I only see a few every year, and this one's colours are accurate as to what I saw in the field that morning. I do agree I've seen them in redder and "bolder" plumage, just thought it was individual variation. I love shorebirds and I am legitimately wanting to learn...

This is certainly a brightly colored juvenile bird. Not sure why it looks so orange here. Maybe a function of the light? I've never seen one that looked like that but I guess there could be some genetic reason as well or even staining.

Hi Dan, apart from your usual low angle, you managed the perfect HA too. Well placed in the comp, and just love the overall colour to your BG.

Thanks Glenn! I do not see any loss of clarity with this combo. The 1.4 III and 500 f/4 II are quite the pair!

I love the neutral color palette and the little pop of green.
Wish you had been an inch higher but that is minor issue,
Gail
