at the animal shelters, you come across something like this.
Angel arrived with a broken jaw and several other things wrong with her. I nearly lost it when I met her. I need to go back and try some different angles. I saw her later and she was panting with her mouth open and looked a lot better. Maybe I can run her for a little while and get a few images that way.
She's a super sweet dog with the most gentle disposition.
Thanks everyone. She's as healed as she is going to get. Basically, permanently scarred, but I think dogs deal with this sort of thing much better than we humans. She acts perfectly fine. As for how she broke her jaw, I don't know but I'll be out there again in a couple weeks and will ask if anyone knows. If I had to guess, I'd say she has a run in with a car, but that's just a guess.
This wouldn't stop me, and I bet most animal lovers feel the same way. Do keep us posted, hoping for a happy home for this sweetie. My continuing admiration flows to you for all that you are doing, Jim, the world needs more souls like you.
Oh Jim this is truly heart breaking. I can not tell you all the feelings that raced through my body when I saw this image. I do hope you had time to give her lots of love. I hope I have the opportunity of meetin you one day Jim as I have great admiration for all that you are doing. My father was a veteranarian and I spent many hours with him.
I actually considered becoming a vet at one point, but I don't think I could handle certain aspects of the job. I'll be back out out at this property on the 8th, and Tammy will be with me to meet Angel. I'll have to be careful though as I'm also doing some horse photos while there and Tammy is way allergic to horse hair.
I've been personally involved with our local humane society - coming in to try and socialize all the cats and dogs that end up there. It just breaks your heart to see how these animals have been abandoned or abused. It's not for the faint of heart. You do what you can do, but it's a major problem. Keep up your great work Jim!
