Barbets are one of my favourite avian spices to photograph, for three reasons: They have very colourful plumage, it's feathers generally show lot of details and barbets they tend to hold a pose--- which is always helpful for someone like me -:)

I have several image with various HAs. I chose this image to share as I thought it suits the theme. I welcome the comments and critique from the esteemed community.

This image was also made in mountainous region of Central China from a photo blind.

Very nice colors, pose and background! I would like to see more of the subject in focus

Great shot, colours and detail. Smaller aperture would have helped get more DOF but I think the shot works as is since the key details are in focus. I'd also try to centre the bird in the crop, if possible.

The head is sharp and the colors are nice but the steep shooting angle worked against you here with most of the bird out of the focus plane, he is too big in the frame too.

Thanks Arash & Michael. I was intentionally shooting with lens wide open to reduce ISO. I chose this image to share because of unusual pose. I do have several images where bird was more parallel to the camera so more of it in focus. Sharing one of them hereName: blue-throated-barbet_20161229-45647-.jpg

Thank you Glenn for your comments. Glad to know you too liked this image with shallow DOF.
