I had a fun and productive session with a couple of Caspian Terns last weeks. Although the other one was much more active and offering preens, stretches, and yawns, this one was likely the most beautiful specimen of the species I've seen. Fresh and clean, and with red eyeliner too, something I've never seen in this species.
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/ II 1.4TC +1.TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/800s., f/5.6 ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, FF, darkened the pupil, lightened the iris, a few specs removed from the beach.

A stunner, Daniel. How nice of the tern to come with red eyeliner. Good catchlight and I like the pose. The warmth of the sand and quality of light is beautiful too.
Daniel at times we can labour on this and that and so we should, sometimes one just has to sit back and enjoy beauty that has been incredibly well captured by another, this is that for me.
Just gorgeous
I will qualify though pov lovely bkg as smooth as a baby's.... details of bird wonderful, love that soft shadow, HA,cool !! I really can't go into red eyeliner with a Canadian though ...ya'll all wear that it's law over there is it not
TFS Daniel terns are something from my childhood really, as I'm about as far from the sea as one can get in blighty, which frankly hurts daily, so simply a joy this one for me to view
