I made this image of a young Red Grouse yesterday morning, and tomorrow is what 'they' call 'The Glorious Twelfth'. The first day of the Grouse Shooting Season. I think this image portrays it well, the young bird looking over his habitat. Tomorrow will be its first 12th, where it will endure excessive shotgun noise, and the barking of dogs leading to all sorts of stress. I hope this wee guy survives. Maybe the solitary flower, in amongst the burned heather will give it hope. Not your usual purple heather grouse image(which I also captured), but, an image telling a story, where hundreds of Red Grouse will be killed.
