    Default Red Lechwe

    Attached Images Attached Images

A very simple frame of a Red Lechwe 'tail end Charlie' who decided to stop (hence the SS), but I wanted to capture the small herd running across a nearby channel, but as he stopped the rest then decided to stop before the channel!!!!

Thanks to those who posted or viewed the previous thread.

I like the light and the grass in the mouth. Good composition as well the direct stare is nice as well.

HI Steve, a fine image of the Lechwe with nice HA and eye contact. The SS is high but does not hurt the image at all. You could have easily used a higher F stop but this works just fine.

Hi Steve - I think he is telling you he is the boss and don't mess with his ladies. Nice head turn and pose. The warm light and red tones work well. I would prefer a little more room below for the virtual legs and then some. You said you cropped some from the bottom, perhaps add it back.

Hi Steve being still at work having a short break from the cement ....
So not ideal to say something about tone and color ...leave it to others .
I like the pose of the antilope and the overall clean surroundings the sky and trees are giving a nice break to balance things .
I do agree about the foot of the image ....could be a bit more room for the legs ....from my POV .
Have you already added canvas ...as the sharpness falls off quite quickly ...and there is some repeating in the structure of the OOF areas , i might be well wrong.
Overall a lovely image with a great subject .

As shot, just DOF as I looked at the RAW before PP as there appears to be a line.

Striking frame, love the clarity and detail here. Well exposed and great choice of DoF. Wonderful rich colours and I like the presence of trees and sky in the BG.

Superb processing as usual, dear Steve. Been wondering about the need for more space at the bottom of the image - I think you did allow for the virtual feet, but perhaps adding a tad of canvas might create perfect balance, WDYT?
A bit jealous of this, I have never seen this species in real life and it has been on my bucket list for some time. I can only dream of capturing a Lechwe in such beautiful light... Great opportunity well taken, Sir

    Warmest regards,

Nice rich lighting on this one, I like the colours. As you say, a simple shot, but it works and the line of trees in the BG really benefit.

Hi Steve, great eye contact, and love the small tuft of grass in his mouth. I really like the light in this, as it shows up his coat so well, and this is tack sharp. Great sighting mate.
