This picture was taken on a cold afternoon (about -15 C) a few weeks ago by the side of a nearby river. This female Mallard was resting in the snow. I was laying flat in the snow and the camera was hand held.
I find the composition pleasing. Please give me your comments.

A common subject. Not the world's longest lens. A simple yet elegantly designed image. All result in a wonderful image (that does need a bit more sharpening).

One thing about winter is that it is much easier and cleaner to lie flat on the ground! The low angle works well. I'm not crazy about the dark vertical line in the BG at right. Nice first post!!
