    Skimmer in the surf in the early morning sunlight. This skimmer was preening and cleaning. Image adjustments in Lightroom. Hand held, full frame.

    Pretty pose and pretty light. Like the incoming wave and the open beak. The bird looks a little soft to me, especially around the face. Also the black on the primaries is a bit blocked and I think there is a little more detail to be had there.

    Beautiful light and pose.
    Nice POV.
    Too bad the skimmer was not more parallel to the sun- it would have lit up the tail nicely. I would try to get some more detail out of the blacks in that area.
    I like the little waves breaking upon the legs.
    It looks like the nictitating membrane was over the eye?

    AS above maybe just open the blacks up a touch, but it looks sharp enough on my screen. The pose which looks like he's laughing is superb.

    Hi John,
    An excellent image with the open beak - a happy Skimmer ... ; - )
    Also, the breaking wave is a great bonus.
    To me, there is enough details in the black and I find the exposure fine.
