    Hi all,

Taken from a boat near Bass Rock last weekend.

1dMk3, 70-200mm, f7.1, 1/1600 and harsh light from the left.

    Thanks for your feedback.

This is really nice Austin. I like the composition, eye contact and detail. The dark line to the right is distracting and could be softened or removed. Were you using the f4 or f2.8 versions of this lens (I've just ordered the f4 version)?

    Hi John,

    Thanks for your feedback.

It was the f2.8 that I used but there was no shortage of light, in fact too much at times during the day.

    Thanks

    Austin

Love that beautiful face and eyes! I also find the line distracting and not crazy about the shadow on his body. Agree on leaving more space to the left too.

Great soft light and details, too bad the sun was not behind you as the shadow line on the body is not ideal. I agree regarding a wider crop. Thanks for sharing!

Great capture and not an easy task from a boat. Very lovely flight pose and beautiful eye contact. Agree with all of the above. Many thanks for sharing Austin.

    Hi Austin!

What a great face and expression! For me, the dark line is uneasy ... as I am expecting it to continue on past his wing and finish somewhere down to the left. It seems disconnected somehow, so is a distraction. I would probably remove it, if you are not opposed to that kind of work. I would love to see these guys someday.

Sharp and a nice wing position. The shadow on the body bothers me more than the dark BKGR strip.

    Thanks everyone for your comments.

I could remove the BKGR line but the shadow on the body would be above and beyond my skills and ethics. I will just have to go back and try to improve next year.

    Thanks again,

    Austin
