    Default Barn Owl

Had some fun shooting with Alan Murphy last year in South Texas. We had a chance encounter with a Barn Owl. This bird was moving fast, and I only got one brief opportunity to photograph it before it was gone. Fortunately I was able to lock focus and get a nice wings-up and wings-down frame in that single flight pass.

What a great capture, Doug. Perfect up-wing position, nice light, good detail and well-coordinated background. Thanks for sharing it.

Just killer Doug. Seeing a Barn Owl flying low the the ground and out in the day is special. Capturing a sharp shot against a perfect background with extended wings is just silly!!! So nice. Congrats. It must have been pure elation after having this bird fly by, locking on it and then checking the back of the camera and seeing this.

Hi Doug, great flight pose with the raised wings, and captured in nice light too. I like the detail and colours of the Owl, sharp, and pops nicely against that killer BG. Well captured.

Beautiful capture Doug, they really are a wonderful looking owl. I don't know if its the light, or the specific colouring of this bird, but it appears to lack some of the tonal range of 'ours'.

Either way it is a fantastic shot, one I, amongst many others no doubt, would love to have in my files

WOW! IQ just rocks with a great complimentary BG and wing position.

Basically what everyone has said. I think the light quality here is extremely beautiful. This one is pretty much a perfection on my book.

Late on this one and I can only echo everyone's thoughts -- especially Isaac's and Gail's about seeing this on the LCD -- but this is really something to aspire to for me. TFS and congrats

Perfect flight pose with the wings and the approach angle. I like the soft light.
