Waited for this buck to come out the other evening managed to get a few frames of him. Kept misting or drizzling pretty heavy at times not so much here. I'm lying flat on the ground here. Image adjustments in Lightroom. Hand held, small crop.

Hi John - Typical Ithaca weather. I like the comp and framing here but I tend to like a bit of negative space. Once again, I would want a higher ss if it were me.

    Rachel

Setting against the darker backdrop, the subject does pop and good to see a bit more below John. Agree on cropping both sides, less so on the RHS, but purely to loose the sharp grass. Unfortunate about the brighter tree trunks under the belly, would address that if both time & ethics are available. With the techs, you should have retained some rain streaks, ideally f/5.6, but agree with Rachel on SS, especially HH.

    Hello John,

I too would really like to more shutter speed but I must admit this is not bad for 1/80s Lovely image and the subject stands out so nicely, I also like the colours overall and textures on the Buck. Nice attentive pose and eye contact.

Comp is fine with me, I like space like Rachel... But I agree with Steve's suggestion, you could lose a tad to eliminate that clump of grass on the RHS. The tree trunk below the subject's abdomen is unfortunate - not sure of your ethics in terms of processing, if this was mine I would make it less obvious.

I am sure you will have more opportunities with those Whitetail Buck, hopefully some in good light. Looking forward to more from you, thank you for sharing:)

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
