Default Ruffled flap - common loon shaking it out

This common loon was imaged a month ago, doing a little feather maintenance . Unusual to get an eye open during the neck twist.

    D810 600mm VR f/8 ISO 500 1/2000sec

    modest crop for comp.

Would have preferred the horizon line not through the neck, but changing my elevation wasn't an option. I felt it was soft enough to work.

Taken from bottom of my little boat, Loonie Too!

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

    Cheers

Great looking pose and I love that we can still see a sliver of the eye. I see what you mean about the horizontal line but it doesn't really bother me and it is pretty soft. Nice details throughout, especially under the wing on the RHS. I might be tempted to bring the blues down ever so slightly but personal preference I think. The couple of falling water drops are a nice touch as well. TFS, I really enjoy your loon images and this one is no exception.
