    Default Common loons frolicking on a northern MN lake after sunset

    It was getting dark out in my little boat, and the loons were out diving and fishing. it was really too dark for pics i thought, but gave it a try and thought this one turned out pretty good. Canon 7dll, 100-4000ll at 182 mm f5, 1/80th sec, 1000 iso from my sea eagle boat, hand held.

    I nice, atmospheric shot, Michael.
    It is a shame the loons' heads abut into the line of darker water behind them but I guess you grab what you can get with these critters.
    I think it could do with a bit of counterclockwise rotation.

    Like the feel of this very much. Lovely lake. Strong sense of depth. Agree about the CCW rotation.

    Pretty scene. I am starting to like and try and shoot these types of scenes more often. This works well for me. Nice soft light and a beautiful color palette. Wish I was there with you...

    I did the CCR and also added a bit of haze so the loons heads dont blend into the background as much
