The first time I saw this bird (years ago in Nome) I wasn't very impressed as I thought they looked a bit like a gull. But after spending time with them I realized how beautiful these birds are. I love the silkyness of the feathers and that fabulous tail.
We found a pair in Iceland that were very cooperative and not aggressive at all.
PP:This is full frame vertical crop from landscape orientation.Do I need a bit more room below?
    Nothing added or cloned.
Usual LR sliders and in PS did NR to BG, levels, and USM to JPEG

    Gail:

I like the framing, wings working the diagonal of the frame, clear shot of head, eye contact, good background.

A sliver more on the bottom would be fine, but not a problem as is for me.

    Cheers

Hi Gail, love the IQ and light in this, and you are killing the flight poses from Iceland. Perfect focus where it counts, well exposed and sharp. The Skua is separated nicely from the BG. Another vote for a touch more below.

Super flight shot of this cooperative skua Gail, really like the HA and the curl at the tip edge. Well done, i like the muted colors in the BG to compliment the mono colored bird.

Lovely image, Gail. I echo Randy's and Stu's comments. Very interesting bird, unique shape to the tail. Thank you for sharing.

This is a real winner. I expect an invite the next time you go to Iceland!!! Love these birds and your photo. They hold a special place in my heart as my grandfather who passed away many years ago would also tease me about being careful of the Parasitic Jaegers. He was convinced that with a name like that that I would be in danger.

Beautiful top side view and head turn against a wonderful background. I like the crop as is.

Looks like you girls killed it in Iceland this year. This looks fantastic Gail. Nice top side view as he's banking towards you and the head angle is just about perfect with a nice catch light in the eye. I too love that tail. Well done and looking forward to many more

Another great looking image from Iceland. I think the BG really shows this bird at its best. When you see it like this, it really is a lovely looking bird. Keep em coming
