This is one from Staffa Island, on the west coast of Scotland. Whilst I was there, I noticed a few puffins choosing this 'perch' on landing. It is on the top edge of a cliff, so I got myself positioned as close to the edge, as safely possible.

Really pleasing portrait here Will, the flowers add nicely to the overall scene. Could you possibly pull down a little more detail from the brightest whites on the breast?

Love the details on the face, very smooth but pin sharp, good call stopping down a bit.

Thanks for that Mike. I'll have a look at those whites, the brightest are at 237/238, I agree that a little more detail would look better.

Wonderful image you have here William. Those flowers really make this image stick out among all the Puffin images I've seen lately.

Bill, I really envy all you guts with your sweet puffin shots, I don't know why I like those birds so much but I do.
What's not to like about this shot, very nice.

Love this one! The flowers are wonderful.
Agree that I would try to tame the whites in the breast but otherwise looks great,

Killer shot William. Bird looks great against the background and those flowers. I agree about the whites. I would also try a version of cloning out the dark on the left in the background and use the lighter green on the right as my source. Think that would really make the bird pop more and not have the other dark area competing for the eye.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. Hi Isaac, I did think about cloning the top left corner, I will give it a go.

Great image. The flowers add to the scenery a lot. The whites on the neck are a bit hot. Other than that i dont' see anything adjust, maybe the blacks on the head, could use some lowered shadows.

Hi Will, excellent IQ, and I really like the overall setting with the flowers. You have brought out the detail on the Puffin so well, tack sharp, and the angled pose is tops. Well captured.
