    Always fun to watch and capture a classic skimmer pose. Nice action and details look good. The blacks on the head look nice but wish there was some more detail in the far wing -- might be able to tease a bit more out in PS. Light looks nice too. TFS

    Hi John, you certainly captured the skimming behaviour here. I agree trying to tease out more detail on the far wing wont harm, and maybe reduce the yellows on the near underwing. I realise this is in early morning light, but reducing some of it may look better. Comp wise, we all want to see the trail of water from the skimming behaviour, but moving the Skimmer back to the RHS, and having more space on the LHS to skim into will work.

    Classic skimmer pose -often seen but very difficult to capture.
    I have to agree with above critiques, especially about moving the bird back in the frame.
    The water splash/droplets are nice.
    I would be tempted to get rid of the whited out area on the upper mandible and replace it with the red color,
