Lovely. The light isn't perfect but i guess you can't really complain as those islands can't be accessed at early and late hours if i am not wrong about it.
Do you recommend Farne Islands Jonathan? I think i will go somewhere in UK to shoot Puffins next May/June.
Tom purely for opportunities I would definitely recommend Farnes because you have puffin razorbill and guillemot, arctic and common tern along with sandwich terns. Additionally fulmars kittiwakes and gulls not forgetting eider duck.
On the beach at Seahouses there are various shorebirds i.e. waders, also kittiwakes and fulmars together with sandmartins.
Will can possibly advise you about alternative sites in Scotland, and I know Mike could inform you over Skomer in South West Wales, I suppose you may have the opportunity of better light in Wales and Scotland but only if you are able to stay overnight.
The Farne Islands is also within a reasonable distance of Bempton cliffs and near Bempton you can go out on a boat to photograph diving gannets - let me know if you want further information.
Sure, why not. That would be cool :). I am gonna come back to you probably at the start of next year for some tips and when is the best time to come, before i book the flight etc.
Very nice Jon. Love the comp. Great colours throughout and lovely detail on the BIF. I was on the Isle of May, again, on Saturday shooting the puffins. Never get bored with them, they are so much fun, and tests your BIF to the max. Well done. Hi Tomasz, if you ever think about Scotland. You have the Isle of May, (42,000 puffins), lots of terns etc etc. and the Bass Rock, (150,000 Gannet). Both these islands are only a 30 min drive from my house, to the boats which take you. And, you have lots of islands on the west coast, where Puffins breed, the birds are so close you can basically touch them. A bird watching friend of mine went to Poland last month, and he loved every minute of it.
Very nice image Jonathan. I really like the incoming puffin and the great sky colors with clouds. i just wish there was not an OOF grass crossing the grounded puffin's face.
On my laptop, the image looks like it needs a boost of blacks in the image. It looks a bit washed out.

The quality of light is not the problem here, it is the direction. With the light well from the left the puffins face and half of it's body are in shadow. I do like the image design and the wing position.
